Sculpture Exhibition: Spirit into Matter

Set on the banks of the Vaal, Mark Swart Sculpture Park on the Vaal Meander is a place where contemporary sculpture, gardens, river and open landscape come together.

On 28 and 29 November, the park presents Spirit into Matter, a garden sculpture exhibition featuring Anton Smit, Mark Swart and other artists.

The exhibition explores the transformation at the heart of sculpture — the moment when an idea, emotion or inner impulse is given weight, material, form and presence.

Visitors are invited to wander through the gardens, discover the works within the landscape and stay into the late afternoon as the light changes over the Vaal.

Food and drinks will be available to purchase, and visitors are welcome to bring a picnic basket, find a place in the gardens and enjoy one of the Vaal’s beautiful sunsets.

The Sculpture Park is easily accessible from the surrounding region — approximately an hour from Johannesburg and within easy reach of Parys, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging, Potchefstroom and the wider Vaal Triangle.
