Heidelberg

Heidelberg is situated at the foot of the Suikerbosrand , along the N3 highway connecting Johannesburg to Durban .

The town originated in 1862 as a trading station. Many of the buildings dating from the 1890s to 1910s have been preserved and remain characteristic of Heidelberg.

The home of AG Visser , the well-known Afrikaans poet , is located in the town.

Heidelberg is also known for its annual “Vark Fees”

Lezar Opstal is situated just outside of Heidelberg, in the picturesqueness Kloof of Groenfontein district.

Deon en Willemien Lezar have been living on the farm for a bit more than 15 years, they are lovely warm-hearted people. Willemien lives out her passion of cooking good country food with a modern flair and she loves to entertain. She is well known for always going the extra mile and gives special attention to detail. So it didn’t take to long before Lezar Opstal became a successful venue.
